The actions we take are only as good as the commitment they receive. By investing in our community through persistence and devotion, we can allow our efforts towards building a stronger community reach full fruition.
Change takes place from the heart. The power of connection is in understanding one another, those both similar and unalike, so we can work together towards moving forward. There is little we can do alone, but when we care as a community—it can transform our world.
Community goes beyond people helping people. It is how we bring together resources to change lives for the better. As a community, let’s bring together our non-profit organizations to unleash the full potential they offer in enriching our city.
Your experience matters. For all the times you have felt invisible in your community, for the struggles you may be going through, your story does not end here. Affordability and accessibility to higher education and transportation allow us to be productive citizens and hold jobs able to sustain our livelihood. Yes, we have problems – just like every community. It is time to proactively approach the opioid crisis, connecting people with resources, joining our community together, and committing to action to build a better Hagerstown; an inclusive city that allows the voices of those feeling unheard to become amplified.

As an openly gay woman, I am a firm advocate for equally representing everyone. Excluding those outside our immediate circles can easily create a disconnected community. It is time to come together as the wonderfully diverse individuals we are to hear every voice.

As a community, we must talk about the hard stuff to plan for a brighter future. One of those hardships, as it has been for countless cities, is the opioid crisis. Homelessness, lack of healthcare and education, trauma, and mental illnesses all contribute to the problem. Much work has gone into the efforts of helping those in need, but I believe we must first resolve these core issues to make even more progress. By gathering resources to reduce addiction overdoses combined with proactive measures at stopping the crisis at its root, we can come together to stand against it.

I will ask the right questions to build a stronger relationship between the city and its residents, openly sharing where our money is going so that we can improve our city together. As mayor, I will be committed to transparency and meeting people where they are, rather than having them come to us, so their voices are heard.

I am running for mayor because I see both value and potential for our city. We have come so far as a community and I look forward to the opportunity to expand on that even more; whether as mayor or simply as Andi. Hagerstown is my home, and yours, too. Together, the possibilities for what we can do within it are endless. And it is my promise to persevere alongside each person looking to stand up for all that this home can be.
